The Carlson Extra-Wide Walk-Thru With Pet Doors are the best gates to keep your children and pets from wandering into certain unwanted areas in your house. They are really simple to assemble and they do not put holes in or put unwanted marks on your walls. They are light weight but really sturdy against the weight of our large dog and are attractive ensembles with the rooms you use them in. Adults can always easily observe what the child or pet is doing and their locations in the house. These gates limit the movements of your child or pet. Since they can see the adult, they will feel very secure. We have found them to be safe for your pet and small children although they are mobile and can be used in any room in your home. These gates are very popular and the demand is really high. Wal-Mart (online) was the only vendor to have these items. We already have 5 other gates which are being used to block off the living room, the dining room, the kitchen and the bedrooms. We will be ordering and purchasing more for the basement and garage.

My small shih-tzu to my suprise, jumped over it and was loose when I arrived home. This is 30\"\nhigh and was an accomplishment for a small dog. It needs some sort of roof or cover.

My German Shepard puppy and the cat have not learned how to get along yet. This gate fits nicely at the beginning of my hallway, before the bedrooms. The pet door on the gate is big and the puppy can still get through. Right now the pet door stays closed when our cat is sleeping in our room during the day.We open the pet door when puppy is in his crate , so the cat can move freely in and out of the bedroom during the night. The gate was well-packed and instructions clear on how to set it up. Site to Store shipping was not at all as expected. Shipping was slow, then delayed. On the day my gate was finally to arrive my store said the gate wasn't there, also that it was no longer available. A call to customer service cleared up everything and the gate was at the store that afternoon! I did my rating on the quality of the gate.

We purchased two so that we could have an expanded play yard for our new puppy to stay in. We are using indoors, but used some of the extra sections to block a side yard outdoors and it is working well. Keep the plastic panels laid flat or leaning upright together, as they can warp \/ bend a little otherwise. The height is too tall to step over to walk into, so going through the door height is a little tricky but it is tall enough to stoop through. Very pleased with the easy assembly and sturdy result. Rating would be 5 stars if it was less expensive, but even so it is well priced.

My husband and I have horses for dogs \"kidding!\". Our big yellow female Lab took down our \"Expanding Wooden Fence\" broken in three places. This one is metal nice and tuff works better than I expected. Con: The screws are too small, have 1\/2 inch sheet-rock walls used a stud finder then 1 1\/4 phillips deck screws to attach plastic anchors. Con: The door on the gate opening is smaller than the expanding wooden fence but works for us. Pro: At the bottom of the new gate I just turned the gate anchors sideways and attached to the baseboard.\nJust did some minors custom things for my preference:\nThis new gate has a smaller door on the larger door, I have cats so I removed the smaller door so cats can go through all the time. The smaller door hinges are spring loaded.\nLast the larger door has a stop so the door swings oneway. I used a pair of vice-grips and bent the door stop up. Now the door swings in both directions. All in All it works!

This is a good looking gate, if a pet gate can be described as such. Sturdy, too. But I will tell you what, the price tag on this thing is ridiculous. I would recommend this gate only because it is the least offensive looking one on the market. Did I mention that it is way overpriced?

When I received it I loved how it looked and that it was wood and tall and sturdy and easy to put together not like the other gates that you need to screw into the wall. The only problem is that the actual gate didn't open because there wasn't enough space at the bottom where when you pull the lever up the lock at the bottom didn't have enough room to swing thru...so I had to return the gate and settle for one that was harder to put together yet cheaper at $60 (the child safety gate). I really would have preferred to keep this gate because it is prettier but I would have had to cut the wood a little at the bottom for it to swing open properly and for $82 I think it should have worked perfectly.

Caution is necessary in not stumbling on the threshold

I purchased this gate to limit my daughter's roaming ability in a certain part of the house. I had purchased similar gates in the past for my dogs and this one was a little cheaper but looked to be about the same as those so I thought I'd save $20 and that was a mistake. This gate is far lower quality than the others I've purchased in the past. So much so that some of the bars were actually bent when I opened the box and one of the panels keeps becoming seperated from the others when I move it around. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because it does do what I bought it for, it keeps her from moving around. I would recommend spending the extra $20 and buying a little better gate, I know I will in the future. In addition, as noted by other purchasers, the gate isn't white, it's like a beige color, not a big deal but I didn't expect that when I purchased a \"white\" gate. Good luck!

I needed a pet gate long enough to span a large entryway between my dining room and the computer room. This was by far the most economical gate for its size that I found. It's nothing fancy, but it's a nice, sturdy gate and serves it's purpose well. You do normally have to bolt it into the wall, but I was able to brace the ends securely against the entryway sides instead to avoid making holes.

Very good quality. Lower than expected but our small dogs can't get over it and it is easy for us to step over.

After reading reviews I anticipated that this product would be unprofessional looking, and that is accurate. However, it does get the job done, and our railings are large enough for a child to fit through, so it was a safety hazard. It's not very hard to put up, but will likely require a drill as the hold punch can only go an inch into the plastic. It does create rough edges, but we smoothed them as best we could and so far the kids haven't gotten cut on it. If your railing is a potential hazard, then I recommend, but if you just want to stop kids from throwing toys, I would work on changing their behavior rather than put this stuff up... it's not very attractive.

Gate is very well built and easy to put together.\nI wished I had paid more attention as to its height, would have liked for it be be about a foot taller. But overall I am very happy with the gate and it looks very nice.

I bought this gate with high expectations. We have large walk ways in and out of our kitchen. A hard size to find a gate that would fit. A different gate I purchased years ago is a pain in the backside to install (and damages the wall with the grippers) so I was looking for something large enough to fit the space, no need for installation and still look nice. This one totally exceeded my expectations!! Absolutely no assembly. Pulled it out of the box, carried it to the walkway, unfolded, and instant set-up complete! It contained my 2 small dogs in the kitchen without any trouble. My little maltese mix did chew on the wood ...should have bought the anti-chew spray. I will probably buy another one for the other walk way to replace the old cumbersome gate. Very impressed with this gate and the fact that it folds into a square for a kennel is an added bonus. Highly recommend!

I ordered two of these gates to go in front if our two sets of stairs. I actually ordered this to keep my baby from the stairs. Our stairs are very difficult to fit with mounted baby gates. This was the perfect solution. It was also super easy to assemble.

We use this to keep our pets on our deck. On the second day after mounting one of the slats snapped where it criss-crosses with another. There was no undue pressure or torsion when this happened. Thank goodness for duct tape.

Once I placed my order the item shipped quicker than had expected. This gate is perfect. If you have ever had a dog that was able to get trough other gates this one will do the trick. It is tall enough so the dog will not be able to get over the gate and cannot squeeze through the spindles. This is a great buy for the money.
